Our Mission

The Citizens for Responsible Transmission Line Siting coalition unites citizen groups, private property owners and impassioned individuals to strengthen their representation in the siting process of high voltage electrical transmission lines.

Statement of Philosophy

Corporations involved in the energy industry prefer to site their high voltage transmission lines through private lands where they enjoy the power of eminent domain, rather than over public lands where their projects are subject to painstaking, public federal reviews. The intersection of private landowners and corporations who seek to maximize shareholder return and enjoy disproportionate influence and power in the political process, is always difficult to traverse when the landowner’s livelihood, health, welfare and general quality of life is at stake. Therefore, it is incumbent upon citizens to unite and collaborate in their efforts to overcome oppression perpetuated by these companies that seek to maximize shareholder return by wielding the power of eminent domain. Uniting citizens and collaborating for our right to have equal representation and influence throughout the entire siting process of high voltage electrical transmission lines is the overall mission of our coalition; for the oppression of one citizen or private land owner is the oppression of all.

Our Goal

The overall goal of the coalition is to facilitate protection of the American public’s rights, title, value, and interest in their privately owned property, unencumbered by abusive eminent domain actions, that will allow the present owner and future generations to perpetuate any variety of uses on their lands that will meet their needs. Furthermore, it is our goal to maintain the quality of view corridors enjoyed by the populous by mitigating or eliminating the threat of construction of high profile power transmission lines in populated areas when siting alternatives are available. Most importantly, our goal is to protect the quality of life for current and future generations of citizens that are impacted by the threat or actual construction of long-life, high voltage electrical transmission lines.

Our Activities

Our goals will be accomplished through activism, education and support. We will achieve extraordinary results by developing synergy between our members thru a web based platform offering collaborative strategic thinking forums, project news feeds, research tools and an extensive information center. We will advocate for substantial citizen representation with voting rights on transmission line siting policy boards and related committees. We will advocate for legislation on a state and federal level to mitigate eminent domain abuse by profit seeking entities. We will seek private and governmental funding participation for litigation matters related to the rights of private property owners that are threatened by abusive eminent domain actions perpetuated by profit seeking entities for the purpose of siting long-life, high voltage electrical transmission lines.

Joseph Cook asks: Why is this site not blazing hot? <br/>Either the issues involved are not interesting, timely, needed, or the general public is sound asleep. So, what would it take to set the thing on fire? Is there interest in setting it on fire? Saturday
